Question:

QUESTION on Corrective Jaw Surgery?

I was wondering if there was a procedure in which the upper jaw can be moved INWARDS? I know that many times it is moved forward, but in my case, I feel with my lower jaw advanced forward, my upper jaw should be advanced backwards for optimal results. That's because I have an overbite and with that, my mouth sticks out a little. Or would wearing braces prior to the surgery help position my teeth/mouth a little inwards? TIA.

  1. Yes, sometimes both jaws are moved, depending on need.Braces are sometimes put on before the procedure to help. An Oral Surgeon would be your best source to determine your needs.

  2. its better to correct the lower than the upper. Doing the upper surgery involves a lot of organs like the sinus & the eye, they could get damaged.
