QUESTION to YANKEE FANS?

if the yanks god forbid do not make the playoffs will you be rooting for another team.

if they dont make it i will be pulling for the cubs. Anyone Else

When my favorite team in a sport is eliminated, I usually pick the team that I think deserves to win the most.  I could very easily take the Cubs, partly because of the 100-year drought, partly because I love the city of Chicago, and partly because of my old pal Lou Piniella.

If you only know him as a manager, let me tell you, any team would love to have a guy who plays like he did.  Reggie Jackson said, "Lou Piniella runs like a dump truck," but he was a smart runner, a good fielder, and could hit to all fields.  In so many ways, his Cincinnati player and future Yankee star Paul O'Neill was a leftanded version of Sweet Lou, right down to the temperament.

So I have no problem rooting for the Cubs if the Yanks don't make it.  But don't be so sure they won't.  Stranger things have happened.  Ask Lou, he was there in '78, and a huge reason why they made it.
