in science we are doing sound and hearing and my teache gave me a question for homework that has to be in by tomorrow which is: How does a instrument make a hih and low pitch

  1. It depends upon the intstrument you are using.. they all do it in different ways- valves on a trumpet, srtings on a piano etc..

    However if you wanted to know what pitch actually is it's the frequency of the sound wave: i.e. a high pitch sound corresponds to a high frequency sound wave and a low pitch sound corresponds to a low frequency sound wave.

    Frequency is a measure of the number of waves per second - measured in Hz

  2. Sound is created by frequencies. The higher the frequency the higher the pitch of the sound.
