try yahoo, it seems to work the best, aol and windows live will let you do it too or you can go to the site of his provider and see if they have a link that will allow you to send him a sms or text message over the computer

download the newest version of Yahoo instant messenger.  You can send SMS's from it free.

hahaha unlucky i guess .. if you are in the UK... you can check O2.co.uk ... they do have a free messaging like 10 texts ... emmmmmm or u can topup ur mobile by using your service provider website online :) .....

Your phone carrier website will carry it

and yahoo's mail does it too

            just click on contacts and

           your conacts phone number then click on sms or text, I forget which is which.

Yahoo messenger (same thing)

They're all free.
