  1. it depends, if you can say what color it is its probably old enough.

lots of times when they are learning to fly they will be on the ground

you should contact a wildlife rehabilitator

  2. He will imprint itself on you, get an eyedropper and a bowl maybe a banana and some bread and milk. Mash the banana bread and milk together suck it up into the eyedropper and hold it above the birds mouth which should be gaping. You could also go look under rocks and get earthworms mash it up and do the same thing. Chances are that the bird will die, Goodluck.

  3. depends on how old the baby bird is, you should contact your local wild life center or vet. They can probably tell you exactly what to do.

  4. NEVER feed a bird worms!!!! and instead of an eye dropper use the end of a coffee stir stick or a straw cut to a spoon. Feed the ST dog food mixture from the previous reply.  Go to www.starlingtalk.net to find out all you need to know.

  5. Hi,

    HOW YOUNG IS IT?

    Take a large box.

Put a blanket at the bottom of it and some shredded paper towel.

Take a dish (1 inch deep) and fill it with water.

Cut a worm in half and mush it up a little bit and feed it to the bird with chopsticks. You might have to push it down a little bit with one chopstick if the birds doesn't swallow it right away.

Feed the bird every 30 minutes. After you have fed the bird twice, start to feed the bird every 2 hours.

If the bird is fully feathered and isn't hurt, you should let it go. If the baby bird ISN'T fully feathered then you need to keep it in a warm place.

You should call a wildlife protection organization and tell them about this situation. IF there is no wildlife protection organization in your area, take it to a vet.

    aNIMAL heLPER!

    P.S.

Don't keep a wild bird for no reason, it is cruel. Keep the bird until it is fully feathered and can fly.

  6. Now you say this bird is a baby yet you also say you can tell the color already? Does the bird have any feathers? If it has all its feathers it could be a fledgling try offering it some parakeet or finch food, if it eats it you will not have to feed it EVERY HOUR.

If you know where its nest is then put it back in! Birds have a very poor sense of smell and will NOT reject babies just because a human touched them.

I highly recommend calling a wildlife rehabilitator but hears a recipe for baby bird food...

    Baby Bird Formula Food.

    1 cup soaked dog/cat food

    1/4 cup of applesauce

    1 hard boiled egg

Avian vitamins (follow dosage on package)

Around 750 mg calcium (I use Tums Smooth Dissolve tablet) ground to powder and dissolved in a little water.

    Water

Mix all ingredients together, and add enough water to make it the consistency of cooked oatmeal as seen in the photo at right.Proper consistency of handfeeding formula for a baby starling. The above formula can be divided into portions and frozen. This formula works well for baby House Sparrows and some other passerines. Only leave this food at room temperatures for an hour or so, as it can spoil. When feeding small babies, use something flat such as McDonald's coffee stirrers, chop sticks, popsicle sticks, or a straw with the end cut off to make a scoop. The handle of a plastic spoon works well for older birds. Caution: Do not use small items such as toothpicks or Q-Tips, as it is very easy for a baby to swallow them.

Or you can try the powdered stuff they sell for raising parrots in petco/petsmart.

Also make sure you keep it warm and out of drafty areas.

I also must warn you that caring for a baby bird is extremely time consuming and most of the time the baby will die leaving you depressed and sleep deprived.
