Qasim impressed by young talent – Cricket News Update
The Chief Selector of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980, has heaped praise over some of the talented youngsters, who lit up the recently concluded Faysal Bank Super Eight T20 Cup through their inspiring performances at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium.
The newly appointed Chief, along with his selection committee, watched the players closely throughout the tournament and shortlisted the most consistent players. These youngsters will be further given a chance to cement a place in the squad for the ICC’s
World Twenty 20 Cup, scheduled to take place in September at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
“There were several new faces who were very impressive. We’ve taken note of several outstanding players and this event will help us form a formidable squad for the 2012 World Twenty20.”
In this year’s edition of the domestic Twenty20 tournament, eight teams from different cities of Pakistan qualified for the event. All sides featured domestic players, along with the members of the national side, which recently won the Asia Cup for the second
time in their history.

While the selectors were reluctant to share any information with the media, sources reveal that plans have been devised to include some of the players in the national squad after consultation with head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davenell-Frederick-Whatmore-c52571.
“We didn’t get a chance but there will definitely be consultation with the coach in the coming days,” said the board official.
Whatmore, along with fielding coach, Julian Fountain, was present at all the matches and was impressed with the talent on display. The 58-year-old, who reserves the right to have a say during the selection of the squad, has also noted the names of some
of the promising players and aims to groom them through different training sessions.
“Whatmore may invite the new faces to the National Cricket Academy for grooming as he also has the task of finding budding individuals,” said the PCB official.
