Qatar result astounds Long John
It was a day Long John, or prominent golfer John Daly, would never forget.
“I hadn’t played in a while so the result is not on a shock but also a big surprise as it usually takes a long while to get started every new season. Finishing fourth in Qatar is a great start to my year and it’s a great foundation to build on,” he said.
His arrival in the Dubai Desert Classic turned out to be more shocking and surprising than he had ever anticipated it to be.
The surprise is mainly because of the way he has been able to make it into the event, as after a gap of three years the 45-year old-golfer  was able to finish fourth at the Qatar Masters.
However, apart from expressing his amazement he also said that even at this age of closing towards the 50’s, he is still in the vast and massive learning process that is integral to the learning and understanding about the dynamics of golf.
Furthermore, he also acknowledges that playing golf in the Gulf region is probably the toughest for any golfer.
Primarily it is because of the harsh weather conditions that golfers are confronted with which are exceptional to the golf played in other parts of the world.
He also said that if he would have been able to make the birdies at par five, results of the tournament would have been quite different.
With the payment of 2000 pounds for the Affiliate Membership at the commencement of his season, he is optimistic that he will be able to make it for the 2013 Tour membership.
So far, Qatar Masters has been quite effective as a source of making perfect ROIs for him.
The golfer churned out up to an estimated Euro 94,807 in the course of the entire event.
Daly is aiming high not only to make it into the European Tour but also eyes the prestigious event of Dubai Open Championship.
“And if I can play as well I did in Doha then the goal is trying to get into the Dubai World Championship,” he shared.
He went on, “I’m playing three events in the States after India but not enough, given I don’t have PGA Tour membership, to get any rhythm going”.
Experts believe that Daly, with the kind of effort he has invested in the game, will definitely be able to turn the tables of golf in his favour.
