Qiang Wang eases past Oleksandra Korashvili to enter semis – Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012
Top seed, Qiang Wang, stomped over the Ukrainian challenger, Oleksandra Korashvili, with double breadsticks at the Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012, an outdoor hard court event taking place from 3rd to 9th December in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Chinese seed jolted down a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Korashvili in their first encounter. After stealing the spotlight in around fifty minutes, Wang comfortably secured a place in the final four at this ITF (International Tennis Federation) Women’s Circuit
event.
Wang made a comfortable entry at the Rama Garden Sport Complex. She unleashed flurry of groundstrokes and wiped out the opening five games before Korashvili could hold on. She bagged her serve once again and eventually clinched the opener with a breadstick.
The Chinese brushed off both breakpoints she came across and converted two out of three break chances to her advantage.
Ranked 196th in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Wang carried her winning ways in the following set. She got the critical break in the second game and jumped to a 3-0 lead. After the Ukrainian kept her serve in the fourth
game, Wang held her composure and pocketed the proceeding three games. She dusted away all three games and cashed both break chances to seal the deal with an assuring 6-1 success.
The 20-year-old snapped out from a seven match losing streak after entering this tournament. She last made a semi-final appearance at the Tsukuba ITF before losing her rhythm. However, the Wang managed to capture a title at the Beijing ITF where she stunned
second seed Yung-Jan Chan in straight sets.
Up next for Wang is the Korean contender, Ye-Ra Lee, who overpowered the sixth seed, Hao Chen Tang, in straight sets to set up this meeting. The Korean recorded a 6-2, 6-3 score line against Tang.
The seventh seed, Shiho Akita from Japan, will join Wang in the following round. She upset the third seed, Nungnadda Wannasuk, in a three-set epic to progress at this event. The Japanese seed lost her path in the second seed but found her momentum again,
eventually recording the victory with a breadstick.
