Qiang Wang hits back at Xin Wen to grab title – Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012

In an all-Chinese affair, Qiang Wang made an epic comeback from a set down to outshine her second seeded compatriot, Xin Wen, in a three-set thriller at the Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012 on Sunday. She penned down a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 score line against her fellow
citizen to lift the crown at this ITF (International Tennis Federation) Women’s Circuit event taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.
Seeded top in this event, Wang made a sloppy entry at this outdoor hard court tournament. However, she stayed focused and subsequently carved out the victory in almost three hours.
The world number 454, Wen made quick in-roads at the Rama Garden Sport Complex. She drew the first blood in the opening game and took the initial lead. The lower seed held her nerves and bagged entire serves, eventually sealing the opener by winning six
games to four. She cashed the lone break opportunity and dusted away all three breakpoints she came across.
Wang re-focused in the following set. After Wen held her serve in the fifth game, the higher ranked Chinese unveiled her true colours and bagged following four games. She blocked both breakpoints she faced and marked half of the four break opportunities
to pocket the equaliser with a 6-3 score line.
Ranked 191st in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Wang kept momentum sailing in the final set. She held her entire serves with poise. The higher seed got the breakthrough in the last game and eventually clinched the decider
with a 6-4 score line. She warded off three out of four breakpoints she came across and converted one out of three break chances to her advantage.
The 20-year-old captured her third ITF title of the season with this victory. She was standing on a seven-match losing streak before entering this tournament. However, the higher ranked Chinese e-ignited her spark and conquered her entire opponents with
ease.
Wang claimed her first crown of the season at the Sanya ITF event where she overpowered her wild card compatriot Xinyun Han in the final round. Her second title of the season came at the Beijing ITF where she triumphed over second seed Yung-Jan Chan in the
title-round.
