Qiang Wang topples Kamonwan Buayam to enter quarters – Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012
Chinese starlet, Qiang Wang, triumphed over the local challenger, Kamonwan Buayam, in straight sets at the Chang ITF Pro Circuit 2012 on Wednesday. She juggled up a 6-3, 7-5 victory against the Thai to secure a place in the quarter-finals at this ITF (International
Tennis Federation) Women’s Circuit event taking place from 3rd to 9th December in Bangkok, Thailand.
Seeded top in this event, Wang stayed on track to bid for her third year-to-date title on the ITF circuit. She remained focused throughout the battle and eventually carved out the victory in almost one and a half hour. As a result, the Chinese booked a spot
in the last eight at this outdoor hard court tournament.
Wang assertively entered the Rama Garden Sports Complex. She got the coveted break in the second game and jumped to a 3-0 lead. The Chinese maintained consistency in her game and slid her remaining serves, eventually sealing the opener by winning six games
to three. She cashed the lone break opportunity and dusted away both breakpoints she came across.
Ranked 196th in the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Premier Rankings, Wang lost her track towards the following set. She suffered the first blow in the opening game and trailed at 0-1. Despite recovering in the very next game, the Chinese lost
her serve again and eventually fell at 1-3. However, Wang remained calm and not only snatched his break back in the sixth game but got the breakthrough in the second last game, eventually clicking the set with a 7-5 success. She failed to fend off both breakpoints
she came across but availed three out of six break chances to earn the fame.
The 20-year-old captured her maiden title this season at the Sanya ITF event in China. She then unleashed her skills again at the Beijing ITF event.
Next in queue for the Chinese teenager is the Ukrainian qualifier, Oleksandra Korashvili, who trashed Austria’s Jeannine Prentner in straight sets to progress. The qualifier held her entire serves with conviction and ultimately recorded a 6-3, 6-2 score
line. She broke her rival’s serve three times to steal the show.
