Qin Kai and Luo Yutong win heats of Men's 3m Synchronised Springboard – World Diving Championships
Qin Kai and Luo Yutong won the preliminary rounds of the Men’s 3m Synchronised Springboard on day four of the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, on Tuesday, June 19.
The Chinese divers demonstrated their extraordinary skills to dominate the preliminary rounds of the 3m discipline. China has already won four gold medals in diving events at these World Championships, while the dominance of Kai and Yutong in the 3m discipline
can help the nation to pocket a fifth gold medal in the event.
Kai and Yutong captured the top qualification seat, by earning a gigantic score of 452.19 points. They were followed by Russian duo of Ilya Zakharov and Evgeny Kuznetsov, who qualified as the second best team of the event, with a performance of 438.75 points.
For the third best spot in the respective meet, Patrick Hausding and Stephan Feck of Germany stayed almost twenty five points behind the second position holders and displayed an acknowledging effort of 413.91 points.
They were followed by Kristian Ipsen and Troy Dumais of USA, who were almost three points behind the German team and entered the finals with an effort of 410.64 points. Next were France’s Matthieu Rosset and Damien Cely, who were only 11 points away from
the fourth best qualifiers, as they achieved a decent score of 399.30 points. The sixth best spot of the 3m discipline was occupied by Yahel Castillo and Julian Sanchez of Mexico, who managed a score of 384.99 points.
In the meantime, Oleksiy Prygorov and Oleksandr Gorshkovozov of Ukraine settled as the seventh best duo on the overall points table, after they earned a score of 380.52 points. Great Britain’s Christopher MEARS and Nicholas Robinson Baker were the eighth
best qualifiers of the event, as they accomplished a score of 375.66 points.
The session concluded after the qualifying rounds, whereas, these divers will compete with each other in the next rounds to score a podium finish in the Synchronised Springboard discipline.
