Qing Tian and Zhao Yunlei claim Women’s Doubles crown in the 2011 Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold
China’s Qing Tian and Zhao Yunlei have won the Women’s Doubles crown after defeating compatriots, Shu Cheng and Bao Yixin, in the title-match of the 2011 Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold, in Thailand, on Sunday, June 12, 2011.
The World Number 16 pair of Qing and Yunlei, who were the fifth seed in the Women’s Doubles draw of the event, worked quite well in the straight-set final match to oust their rivals in just 34 minutes.
Qing and Yunlei opened the first set in a fantastic manner, as they maintained a big difference against their opponents, proving that they are superior in every aspect of the game. Cheng and Yixin could not deliver up to expectations, as the duo remained miles behind the aggressive Qing and Yunlei, who were playing perfect badminton.
At the end of the opening part of the starting set, Qing and Yunlei were completely dominating the game by reaching 11-4. The impressive duo formed a superb seven-point lead against the seventh seed opponents, who played a passive game throughout the opening set.
Qing and Yunlei finished the first game in striking fashion without facing any resistance from their challengers in just 16 minutes by a dramatic margin of 21-7.
The second game was another episode of the brilliant performance of Qing and Yunlei, as they showed no mercy to their compatriots. Cheng and Yixin tried to put up a good show, but their rivals were in far better form. Qing and Yunlei made a strong run in the second game by building a wonderful lead of 11-4 in the first part of the set.
The following part of the second set was the continuation of the previous performance from Qing and Yunlei. The perfect placement of strokes from all areas of the court, along with the domination nature of the fifth seeds was just incredible.
Qing and Yunlei emerged as the winners by finishing the second game in 18 minutes, with a score of 21-8. The one-sided straight-set final match ended in 34 minutes with a margin of 21-7 and 21-8.
