Qing Xu seizes Men’s 50m freestyle gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Qing Xu of China seized gold medal of the Men’s 50m freestyle in S6 category on sixth day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Tuesday, September 4.
The Chinese swimmer made his fans happier as he secured gold medal of the event. Xu demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the race as he snared the title in a world record time.
With his continuous efforts in the single lap freestyle event, Xu remained more than a body length faster from his subsequent rival and lowered the world record of the event with a wonderful timing of 28.57 seconds.
The champion was chased by Lorenzo Perez Escalona of Cuba, who remained almost 1.50 seconds slower and clocked a nice time of 30.04 seconds.
Escalona was followed by Tao Zheng of China, who stayed 0.02 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and finished third in the race by reporting a phenomenal time of 30.06 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Sebastian Iwanow of Germany, who was 0.77 seconds slower from overpowering his former finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 30.83 seconds.
The German swimmer was chased by Kyosuke Oyama of Japan, who remained 1.11 seconds apart and ended his race in fifth place by touching the wall with a timing of 31.94 seconds.
Oyama was trailed by Matthew Haanappel of Australia, who remained 0.19 seconds behind and clocked a time of 32.13 seconds for sixth position.
The Australian swimmer was traced by Yuan Tang of China, who stayed marginally slower from his preceding swimmer and secured seventh position. Tang remained only 0.07 seconds slower from Haanappel on the finishing end and settled on the wall with a timing
of 32.20 seconds.
Last position of the event was obtained by Darragh McDonald of Ireland, who stayed full body length behind and completed his race in a time of 33.26 seconds.
In addition, Xu was extremely pleased with his accomplishment in the single lap freestyle event and said that he would train harder to defend his title at the forthcoming swimming events.
