Qiu Bo and Huo Liang impress in Men’s 10m Synchronised Platform Diving – 2011 World Championships
The Chinese duo of Qiu Bo and Huo Liang impressed the Shanghai Aquatic arena on the second day of the 2011 World Diving Championships, by dominating the preliminary rounds of the Men’s 10m Synchronised Platform.
The 14th FINA (Federation International de Natation) organised World Championships are taking place in Shanghai, where aquatic sports will conclude on July 31, after the completion of all the scheduled events.
The Chinese divers won the top qualification spot in the first round, by earning a wonderful score of 477.96 points. Their joint effort was 30.75 points ahead of their following pair, Boudia David and McCrory Nick of USA, who were ranked second on the qualification
table, as their effort helped them score 447.21 points. They were followed by the duo of Hausding Patrick and Klein Sascha of Germany, who stayed only 6.09 points behind them and qualified as the third best duo, with a score of 441.12 points.
The fourth best qualification place was occupied by Russian divers, Zakharov Ilya and Minibaev Victor, who remained only 11.28 points behind the German pair and earned a score of 429.84 points. In the meantime, Great Britain’s Waterfield Peter and Daley
Thomas were announced as the fifth best duo of the qualifying rounds, as they entered the final round with an impressive performance of 424.47 points. The sixth qualifying spot was secured by Gorshkovozov Oleksandr and Bondar Oleksandr of Ukraine, who were
just one point behind and entered the final with an effort of 423.99 points.
The Mexican duo of Sanchez German and Garcia Ivan was the seventh best qualifying pair, as they scored a total of 419.58 points. The eight best qualification spot in the respective meet was secured by Murakami Kazuki and Okamoto Yu, who stayed almost 23
points behind the seventh best finishers and scored a total of 396.12 points.
In addition, these divers will compete with each other in the final rounds, where they will battle each other to score a podium finish in the 10m synchronised discipline.
