Qiu Bo occupies Men’s 10m platform gold medal – Swimming news
Qiu Bo of China occupied the title of Men’s 10m platform on third day of the FINA/MIDEA Diving World Series 2013 in Guadalajara, Mexico on Sunday, May 19.
Bo, showed no mercy to his opponents in the 10m platform discipline as he crushed hopes of his strongest competitor, Ivan Garcia of Mexico and secured the title. Garcia, who qualified in the playoff as top contender for gold medal failed to match efforts
of Bo and secured second position.
Bo remained marginally ahead of his toughest challenger from the start as he ended his first round with a score of 96.25 points. In contrast, Garcia was able to get 96.20 points.
Subsequently, Garcia geared up his efforts in the next round by securing 92.40 points as compared to 85.75 points effort of Bo.
The tables turned upside down in the third round, where Bo managed to gain a slight lead with his 94.05 points effort while Garcia managed to pocket only 73.80 seconds.
Bo demonstrated his exceptional efforts in the fourth round, where he captured a stupendous score of 108.00 points. He was followed by Mexican player, who accomplished 86.40 points.
Fourth round of the event was dominated by Garcia, who added a total of 94.05 points as compared to 79.95 points’ effort of Bo.
Similarly, last round of the race was also dominated by Garcia, who scored 91.20 points against Bo’s effort of 86.40 points.
Bo remained comfortably ahead of his challengers as he secured the title with an effort of 550.40 points. He was followed by Garcia, who remained 16 points apart and finished second with a timing of 534.05 points.
The second best finisher was followed by German Sanchez of Mexico, who stayed nearly 27 points behind and finished third with a score of 507.80 points.
The third position holder was followed by Victor Minibaev of Russia, who was considerably behind and settled on the scorecard as fourth best finisher with a total of 489.75 points.
In addition, the Chinese diver was extremely contented with his top finish in the race while the position holders collected medals after the event.
