Qiu Bo upsets Lin Yue in Men’s 10m Platform semi-final – 18th FINA Diving World Cup
Two-time world champion, Qiu Bo of China served notice of his talent by upsetting Lin Yue in the semi-final of Men’s 10m Platform on sixth day of the 18th Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) Visa Diving World Cup 2012 at the Aquatics
Centre, Olympic Park in London on Saturday, February 25.
The Diving World Cup paves the way for the 2012 London Olympic Games and is of utmost value to all divers, as it gives them an opportunity to compete with each other before the mega stage of sports.
The 19-year-old Bo, who qualified into the semi-final as second best diver behind his teammate, Lin Yue, devastated hopes of his team-member and earned the finest spot in the playoff.
With his stupendous effort in the second round of 10m discipline, Bo is now just one-step away from snaring gold medal of the event.
He remained considerably ahead of his competitors throughout the event and earned his way into the final with an effort of 565.60 points. He remained nearly 57 points ahead of his closest competitor, Yue, who secured second best spot in the playoff by achieving
a total of 508.55 points.
The second best diver was followed by Victor Minibaev of Russia, who suffered a deficit of approximately 14 points and finished third as he gained 494.70 points. Minibaev was chased by his teammate, Gleb Galperin, who remained nearly nine points behind and
ended fourth with a score of 485.55 points.
He was trailed by David Boudia of USA, who stayed 12.25 points behind him and seized fifth finishing spot of the event with a score of 473.30 points.
The sixth best spot was obtained by Patrick Hausding of Germany, who remained just 0.05 points away and accomplished a total of 473.25 points. Hausding confronted strong competition from Oleksandr Bondar of Ukraine, who was just 2.10 points apart and accomplished
a score of 471.15 points for seventh position.
Subsequently, Mexico’s German Sanchez remained significantly behind his former diver and settled on the overall points table for eighth position with a total of 455.25 points.
In addition, Bo aroused hopes of his fans by expressing that he will struggle hard in the playoff to sustain his position and win gold medal of the discipline.
