Qoubilai, major player in Leatt-Brace Handicap Chase at Plumpton
Tim Vaughan’s 8-year-old speedy horse, Qoubilai, shaped promisingly on his fresh seasonal comeback at Taunton, where he captured the fourth place in a very competitive affair. So, a chance can be taken on him in the Leatt-Brace Handicap Chase, scheduled
to take place at Plumpton on Monday, November 19, 2012.
However, we don’t want his fans to be over-confident. Owned by J. H. Frost, the bay gelding surely has some big questions to answer. Despite the fact that the son of Passing Sale won a 3-mile maiden point last season, he still has stamina to prove beyond
two miles. If he overcomes this deficiency, there will no reason why he should not claim a comfortable victory.
The French-bred by M. & Mme Claude Gouin performed superbly early in the year. He started his 2012 campaign in March, when missing the gold medal only by a head’s distance. Building on his excellent return, Qoubilai registered his maiden success in Great
Britain later that month.
He is up against half a dozen rivals. On good to soft two miles and four furlongs, the participants will start running at 14:20 GMT. The winner of this class 4 meeting will be given a prize of £3,054.
Lord Singer seems to have good prospects following last week’s second at Lingfield. Over a distance of two miles, the Gary Moore-trained missed the crown only by a neck’s distance. Ray Diamond flopped terribly last time, but would be having decent chances,
if he regains his superb summer form. Prior to the latest trouncing, the Michael Madgwick-trained sealed a couple of fantastic victories.
Nozic clinched a good win over two miles and one furlong here in March. Zoe Davison’s charge was quite decent on the seasonal comeback, but needs more to do well in this company. Camden is respected for a promising chase debut. The Oliver Sherwood-trained
has already shown the trick over hurdles.
Chasers Chance made a fantastic start for Paul Henderson’s yard by winning two consecutively, but lost rhythm thereafter. His latest ride was surely disappointing. Watergate also requires a lot of improvement to be competitive in this event. We wish the
best of luck to all the participants.
