Qoubilai expected to win Support Brain Tumour Research "Wear A Hat" Handicap Chase
Qoubilai has been awarded with the best odds for winning the Support Brain Tumour Research "Wear A Hat" Handicap Chase at Wetherby in England on Friday, March 30, 2012. The winning horse will be awarded with a cash prize of £3,054.
The going will be good in the 2 mile long race, which is scheduled to start at 3:50 GMT. A total of six runners were initially confirmed for the event, but Kosta Brava will not been seen in action, as he has suffered an injury.
The eight-year-old gelding was one of the top contenders for victory, as he had a decent record in chase races, but he will miss the action now.
Following are the runners, who have been confirmed for the event: Qoubilai, Border Reiver, Ouest Eclair, Kilkenny All Star and Viable.
Out of the above mentioned entries, Qoubilai has the best chances of winning, despite the fact that he has been unable to win any chase race until now. He has entered three of such events and the best he could manage was a second place finish.
However, the eight-year-old gelding has been in impressive form over the past couple of races, thus the bookies have shown full faith in his abilities. The punters will also be placing a lot of bets in his favour.
In his most recent race, Qoubilai finished runner up by a close margin. He seems to be in great touch at the moment and will definitely be the one to watch out for at Wetherby today.
The race favourite gelding will be partnered by veteran jockey, Richard Johnson, who has won 254 chase events. He has got a fabulous strike rate and will be looking forward to another solid run today.
On the other hand, Border Reiver will also be a force to reckon in the race, as he has a lot of experience in races while chasing. He has entered 26 of such events, winning three. However, his strike rate is not good, which will discourage the punters from
risking money on him.
Tim Easterby’s trainee will be partnered by Richie McGrath, who is a decent rider and has won quite a few races while chasing.
The rest of the horses might struggle to perform today, as the top two favourites are in good shape right now.
