Quade Cooper heads Queensland Reds to 7th successive victory in Super Rugby competition
Queensland Reds’ fly-half Quade Cooper led the Reds to seventh consecutive victory in the ongoing Super Rugby championship, defeating Waratahs by 19-15.
It was the first ever success for them against the New South Wales Waratahs in last seven years. The contest witnessed only two players scoring the points in Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.
Quade Cooper scored 19 for the winners and Kurtley Beale shined for the Waratahs with 15 individual points. It was all about these two campaigners during the whole match running with the ball, scoring on tries, penalties and executing the conversions quite
beautifully.
Both the team entered n to the field with their full strength. The Queensland Reds were unchanged from their previous match however the Waratahs welcomed their Captain Phil Waugh, Wycliff Palu and Tom Carter back in to the side after respective injuries.
The Reds were heavily relying on Quade Cooper, Genia and Morahan who had a wonderful day during their last contest against the Bulls on the previous weekend. Phil Waugh and Beale was the centre of hopes for the Waratahs for this crucial game.
Quade Cooper opened the account for Reds with a penalty kick in the eighth minute of the clash and later on, he proved unstoppable for the Waratahs for the rest of the match. He scored all 19 points for the Reds with one splendid try, three outstanding penalties
a conversion and a fabulous drop goal. Cooper had a rough and tough play in to the midway mark.
He let down quite a few easy chances in the match as well. He kicked the ball five times out of the polls but Waratahs were not at their very best to make the opponents paying its price.
The Waratahs never took a lead in the clash however they were just one point behind the Reds in the seventies.
A ridiculous situation was created in the match when both the teams tried to sort out one scrum for 5 minutes. The Reds are on overall top of the tables with eight victories out of nine outgoings.
