Quade Cooper to miss six rounds of Super Rugby due to knee injury
Quade Cooper, the seasoned first five-eight for the Wallabies and Queensland Reds is set to miss the initial six weeks of Super Rugby championship 2012 due to an injury to his knee.
Cooper has undergone a surgery on his knee after being struck by a devastating blow during the bronze medal match against Wales last Friday. The head coach of Queensland Reds, Ewen McKenzie, told the reporters on October 28, that Cooper has a smooth operation
to his knee injury is expected to heal in a faster time than normal.
Earlier on, the playmaker was anticipated to be available for the current champs after missing half of the season of Super Rugby but the team management of Queensland Reds is sure about Cooper’s availability in the seventh match against Brumbies on April
6.
Talking to the journalists after Cooper's successful operation, Mackenzie said that, “Quade's operation went smoothly with surgery results confirming the circumstances of his injury are typical to what you normally expect from a torn ACL. We're confident
he'll return in the quickest time possible and hopefully in time for the Brumbies in early April.”
The coach further said that Cooper was a key member of his side and injury has come up as a shock for the whole team. He further said that, “Recruitment and retention has been priority No.1 since I joined the Reds and we've developed a roster that can not
only survive the loss of Quade, but thrive in his absence.”
Quade Cooper has been in troubled water for last few weeks and the fresh injury has added to his misery. He has had a poor season in the whole Rugby World Cup as he failed to make a good impression in the tournament. Cooper found himself in trouble when
he failed to avail numerous opportunities against their first tough match of the global showpiece, Ireland. Ultimately Ireland stunned the Wallabies by 17-7 in the pool match stages.
Furthermore, Cooper lost his rhythm in the next few matches as well and he received a severe injury in the last match of RWC.
