quadratic equations can be solved by graphing ,using the quadratic formula ,completing the square,and factoring .what are the pros and cons of each method and when might each method be most appropriate

(1) Graphical solution is tedious. It needs much patience and accuracy. But a rough sketch will give a visual aid which helps in solving certain problems especially in finding areas using integration. Graphical solution has its own worth.

(2) Solving a quadratic expression, on completing the square is useful to find the minimum most value of the equation. It is also useful in solving certain integration problems.

(3) Factorizing is to find the roots of the quadratic expression. This helps in drawing the graph of the quadratic expression.

Every method has its own merit. It cannot be said that this method is good and such and such method is bad. Every method has its own importance.

Factorizing is the most easy, convenient and time saving method  to solve a quadratic equation. The reason behind it is that you only need to find the factors.

If a quadratic equation cannot be solved by factorizing then you can use quadratic formula and graphing.

According to my opinion completing the square method can a bit confusing and time consuming !

Factoring is a very good method. Unfortunately not all quadratic equations can be factored.

The method of completing the square will always work. In fact it is so powerful that it is used to derive the general case and that solution is called the quadratic formula.

I never use graphing and I suspect that it might be difficult to find imaginary roots.

well the quadratic formula can be used in many different methods but the method i use is .

if ax^2+bx+c=0,a unequal to 0,then the discriminant is b^2 -4ac. We assume a,b,c are real numbers.
