Question:

Quadricep strain?

kay, well i got it around thursday of last week, it hurts to run.. and i walk with a limp. i've wrapped it up and stuff, im wondering if a thigh support or brace would help for track and field? its next week, please answer, and thanks alot! :)

  1. First off, DO NOT PUT HEAT ON IT!  When you strain a muscle it can become inflammed and adding heat will only make it worse (it may feel better in the moment, but trust me, it won't in the morning).  Apply ice whenever possible.  And being a Massage Therapist myself, I would not recommend massaging the muscle until it has healed completely as to not damage the muscle further.  If your muscle does not feel better after icing it for the next few days, consult your doctor.

    R.I.C.E.: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.


  2. Try massage and hot packs for pain such as Biofreeze or IcyHot. This is very effective for straining muscles.  Massaging the ligaments and muscles of the quad are a great way to recover. This is a type of rehab for the body for manually heal itself
