Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2010-11: Sadaf Hussain grabs 11 wickets as Rawalpindi defeat Faisalabad
Rawalpindi defeated Faisalabad by 7 wickets in the 10th round of the Quaid e Azam Trophy 2010-11 Division One. With this win, Rawalpindi snatched the second position in the points table of division one from ZTBL and is now just behind HBL with
54 points. It is quite a spirited performance by Rawalpindi’s young guns because majority of its senior players are not available to play for their region. On the other hand, Faisalabad is a former champion of the Quaid e Azam Trophy but it has suffered badly
in the current season and is at the 11th spot in the points table.
At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the home team won the toss and had no hesitation to bowl first on a track that was expected to give a lot of help to the seam bowlers. The decision turned out to be a great one as the visitors were bundled out for only
153 runs in the 1st innings. Even after a brilliant effort by the opener Farrukh Shehzad, Faisalabad’s middle-order batsmen could not come to terms with the pace and movement of the home team’s bowlers. Farrukh remained the top-scorer for the visitors
with a fantastic innings of 79 runs which came off just 108 balls with the help of 15 boundaries. He showed impressive technique under trying circumstances.

home team.
In reply, Rawalpindi was in trouble at one stage with 8 wickets down and only 94 runs on the board before Haseeb Azam showed his skills with the bat and struck a match-winning 60 for Rawalpindi which included 8 boundaries. As a result of Haseeb’s stunning
knock, Rawalpindi took a 1st innings lead of 7 runs.

After making a nice comeback in the match, Faisalabad lost the initiative because of a poor showing with the bat in its 2nd innings. The visitors were bowled out for a mere 132 even though middle-order batsman Abdul http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rauf-c84151 showed some resistance
and played an awesome knock under pressure. He scored 72 runs with the help of 8 boundaries to give his team a sniff of a chance in the last innings.
Sadaf Hussain impressed once more as he took 6 wickets for the home team after giving away only 40 runs. Haseeb Azam continued to impress as an emerging all-rounder with a couple of wickets in the 2nd innings as well.
The home team was given a target of 140 runs to win in the last innings which it achieved through some solid batting performance by the captain Babar Naeem. He led from the front and scored 83 runs not out on as many balls to take his team home. His aggressive
innings included 14 fours.
Rauf Nazir picked up a couple of wickets for the visitors as Ahmed Hayat took 1 wicket.
