Quaid e Azam Trophy 2011-12, Division One: Mid-Season Update – Part Three
Continued from the previous part …
If we talk about the bowling department, one bowler just stands out and he is the left arm fast bowler from Rawalpindi, Sadaf Hussain. He has grabbed 39 wickets in only four matches at a terrific average of 13.64 runs per wicket.
The left arm fast bowler was given a chance to showcase his skills, when he was selected for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 earlier this year. However, the fast bowler failed to get a single game on the tour and returned home
empty handed. Later on, he was ignored once again. However, Sadaf has proved his potential once again by some incredible performances in the Quaid e Azam Trophy this season. He has grabbed four five-wicket hauls and a couple of 10-wicket hauls in a match.
Sadaf’s partner in the Rawalpindi team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-Malik-c78763 has supported him well as he has also picked up 19 scalps in three matches.
The left arm fast bowler performed brilliantly in the last season as well but he feels that he is a much better bowler because of the additional experience. He gave the credit to his bowling partner as well and said that both of them go
along pretty well and this is the reason why, they have been extremely successful. However, the positive sign is that Sadaf is still not satisfied with himself and wants to keep on improving all the time.
While talking about his performances in the domestic cricket, he said, "I also feel that whilst I am still learning the art of bowling, I am a lot more mature bowler than last season. I’m putting in the hard work, working with the coaches
at Rawalpindi and it’s definitely paying off. My partnership with Nasir Malik at Rawalpindi is flourishing and it’s great to have such a wonderful bowler in the same team. We help each other on and off the field and are both developing our bowling and hope
to continue to improve in the coming months and years.”
Discarded Test fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Prince-Abbas-c82664 have also shined and all of them are in a race to become the leading
wicket-taker of the tournament.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859, Shahid
Afridi and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691 but the selectors must look at the future as well.
This calls for PCB to make supportive tracks for all kinds of bowlers. At the present moment, the pitches are way too much in favour of the medium pacers and a spinner seldom finds assistance in the first-class games.
This is quite heartening to see that there are a number of cricketers at the domestic level, who are knocking at the doors of international selection. This healthy competition is surely going to be beneficial for Pakistan cricket in future.
The whole situation also surprises the cricket fans and proves a point that Pakistan is the most fertile land, when it comes to producing cricketers of the highest abilities. There is no international cricket played in Pakistan since two and a half years,
yet the passion of the game is very much alive in the country.
