Quaid e Azam Trophy 2011-12, Division One: Mid-Season Update – Part Two
Continued from the previous part …
Shehzad, who was dropped after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 earlier this year, has been performing quite well in the on-going domestic season. He played a fascinating knock against Abbottabad, when HBL was chasing 367 runs in the last innings
and the right handed opener scored a big hundred to clinch a thrilling victory for the defending champions. That innings can be rated as the best so far in the current season.
The top order batsman has so far scored 482 runs in five matches at an astonishing average of 53.55 runs per innings. However, as per PCB, the young batsman is not out of the national team because of performance, in fact, it was his discipline which let
him down.
“Performance was never the issue. I feel the issue for my dropping from the team was something else and even I don’t know exactly what this issue was. Now there have been changes at the Pakistan Cricket Board and we have a new Chairman
in place, everything should be different and I am determined to go and meet the new Chairman and discuss my situation with him soon,” Shehzad said.
Ironically, Shehzad will not be able to take part in the sixth round as he has been handed over a ban of one match for showing dissent to an umpire’s decision. He is surely a talented player but he must improve his attitude big time if
he wants to represent Pakistan at the world stage. He came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country and has been warned, fined and reported for poor discipline countless times.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fahad-Iqbal-c56668 have also performed exceptionally well in the current tournament and all of them are in the top ten batsmen of the current season. One common thing among these players is the fact
that all of them have been playing first-class cricket since long and now they have matured into dependable batsmen.
Raheem and Ayub are seasoned campaigners and one can rate them unlucky that they never got a chance to play for the country at the senior level. It may just be too late for them because they don’t have age at their side anymore. However,
PCB should take the example of Australian and English cricket, where the mature cricketers get to represent their country and the two of them can still play competitive cricket for at-least five more years.
One of the most positive things for Pakistan in the current domestic season has been the performance of PIA’s wicketkeeper/batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122, Pakistan has been struggling since last decade to find a wicketkeeper
who can deliver the goods with the bat. However, Sarfraz has been extra-ordinary in the current season as he has scored 388 runs in only four matches at an amazing average of 97 runs per innings. He scored two hundreds and a half century as well. Sarfraz’s
hard-work has yielded reward for him because the youngster has been drafted in Pakistan team for the upcoming limited overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adnan-Akmal-c42042 has been quite sound behind the stumps in the Test series but the selectors have
preferred http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Clark-c2591 because of his batting abilities and they would be hoping that the youngster from Karachi will be able to make an impression.
