Sialkot versus http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Habib-Bank-Limited-c788
Sialkot elected to bat first after winning the toss at Jinnah Stadium. The home team started off in positive fashion as they put together a decent first-wicket partnership of 70-runs. Star opener Kamran Younis scored an elegant 40-runs but despite looking
well set, couldn’t go on to make a massive score.
Wickets kept tumbling in the middle overs as the hosts lost three wickets in the space of 22 runs. Captain Mansoor Amjad and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shehzad-Malik-c89915 were involved in a crucial 91-run partnership to steady the team. Amjad scored 45-runs, while his partner went on to
become the inning’s highest scorer with 69-runs.
Wicket keeper Ahmed Butt remained unbeaten on 32-runs. His fighting innings lower down the order guided Sialkot to a competent first innings total of 272-runs.
For a start, it was a hardwork for the Habib Bank (HBP) bowlers as the three seamers picked up only two wickets between them. Azhar Mehmood and Shahid Nazir grabbed one wicket each.
Mohamamd Aslam scythed through Sialkot’s top and middle order, taking five for 97 in a marathon spell of 36-overs. The left-arm spinner registered his 16th five-wicket haul to rout the home team. Kamran Hussain supported his senior partner, adding
three more wickets to the team’s tally.
HBP started off their innings in sedate as they raced to 100-runs, losing two wickets in the process. The wickets however kept tumbling in the middle overs as six of the HBP batsmen scored in single figures.
Ahmed Shehzad led the fight-back for his team, with a defiant knock of 123-runs to give them a slender three-run advantage. His onslaught came off 208-deliveries and included 17 boundaries.
Apart from Shehzad, Azhar Mehmood was the only other substantial contributor with a resilient 45-runs to boost his team’s total to 275 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Malik-c64244 and Mansoor Amjad also chipped in two wickets each.
The home team stuttered in their second innings, as they could only manage a meager 163-run total. Faisal Khan was the only batsmen to make an impact with the bat. The right hander struck a defiant half-century to show some resistance for his side.
This time around the seamers did a much better job for the visitors, as they picked up four wickets between them in the early part of the innings. Azhar and Kamran proved too hot to handle with their persistent seam bowling.
Left-arm spinner, Mohammad Aslam, added two more wickets to his tally in an accurate spell of slow bowling. Ahmed Shehzad though was the surprise package, picking up four wickets for 20-runs in a mean spell of leg break bowling.
A target of 161 runs was always going to be easy for HBP. Ahmed Shehzad powered his team to a thumping ten-wicket win with his scintillating century. He scored 109-runs from just 92-balls, which included 17 boundaries and four towering sixes.
