Qualification Tournament for 2011 Junior World Championship gets underway
The qualification tournament for the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Junior World Championship is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 18.
Both men’s and women’s teams of the European region will undergo the qualification process. A total of 18 women’s teams will enter the qualification tournament and vie for the empty slots in the biennial event of 2011 FIVB Women’s World Championship.
The equal number of men’s teams will get together and cross their ways, in order to reserve berths in the upcoming mega international event.
Women’s Section
In the Women’s Qualification Tournament, the squad of 18 teams will be divided into four pools. Pool A will comprise of teams from Serbia, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal and Poland. Serbian city Zrenjanin will host the thrilling competitions of Pool A teams.
Likewise, Belgium, Czech Republic, Romania and Croatia will play under the tag of Pool B. The opening match of Pool B teams will featured on Thursday. Novalja in Croatia would welcome the Pool B teams. Pool C will have teams from Finland, Israel, Russia
and Denmark. They will play their matches in Russian Capital city Moscow. Teams from Bulgaria, Turkey, Slovakia and France will be included in the Pool D, which will travel to Bardejov in Slovakia.
It is expected that some scintillating performances will be staged on the centre court. The teams are all up to demonstrate their extra-ordinary skills, in order to get selected for the world championship.
Men’s Division
On the other hand, the men’s teams will also follow the same pattern. Teams will be divided into four pools. Poland, Denmark, France and Bulgaria will be placed in the Pool A. Bulgarian team will enjoy the competitive edge of being the host of qualification
matches.
The city of Sofia has been set up to host the Pool A matches. Teams from Belarus, Latvia, Turkey, Serbia and Montenegro will form Pool B. Mogilev; Belarus will be featured as the host city. Similarly, the city of Nitra in Slovakia will accommodate Pool C
teams (Belgium, Spain, Slovakia and Portugal).
Estonia, Germany, Greece and Italy will enter the competition as Pool D teams. Germany will play as host of the competition.
The qualification tournament is the only chance for aspiring teams to earn the right to play at the 2011 FIVB Junior World Championship. It is likely that these competitions will create a lot of buzz in the European Volleyball. The fans are desperately waiting
