Qualification round of Beach Volleyball Challenger & Satellites tournament set to begin – Volleyball
The CEV Beach Volleyball Challenger & Satellites tournament got under way on June 13, 2012. The championship is currently taking place in the Croatian city of Umag. The venue of the match is set to be the beaches of the Adriatic Sea.
A total of seven teams from the Country Quota matches are getting all prepped up in order to make a show of their skills for the qualification round to take place on June 14.
In all, 24 teams will be making an appearance in the qualification round. The competing teams have eight positions to fill that will enable them to move onto the Main Draw of the CEV Satellites.  
It had been expected that the opening day of the tournament would experience adverse weather conditions in terms of rainfall but the teams came out to play on a sunny day. The first match in line was between the duo of Rafael Bissig and Bernhard Beyeler
and their Swiss counter parts, Andreas and Roman Sutter. The two teams competed with each other for two sets at the end of which Bissig and Beyeler had bettered their opponents. The scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 21-15 and 21-17.
The Bissig/Beyeler duo started off the first set with a lead but their opponents managed to close in the gap. However, Andreas and Sutter could not overtake their Swiss counter parts and Bissig/Beyeler stuck with the lead till the very end of the first frame
at 21-15. The second frame was a bit more competitive as Andreas and Sutter both provided their rivals with more of a challenge throughout the frame. However, towards the end the duo of Bissig and Beyeler managed to break away and get their hands on the match
at 21-17.
The pair of Bissig and Beyeler was able to win another match on the opening day and secure its ticket into the qualification round. The second match that the duo of Bissig and Beyeler played was with Gabriel Kissling/Jan Schnider. However, this time the
Bissig/Beyeler duo was given a tough time by their rivals as the match got to three sets. The final set scores stood as follows: 14-21, 21-15, and 15-11.
