Basically, I moved to England at the age of 14 (May 2002) turned on 15 (Aug 2002) and I was unable to get into a school till November and the students had completed their coursework. I was given the opportunity to complete all the coursework and also to take the Yr 10 Science module exam. Basically, I failed most of the exam due to the fact that I was new to the England (new to the system) and nobody helped me, didn't even use any revision guide to revise for GCSEs.

To cut the story short, I came out with 2GCSEs - Maths and R.E. I retook my English in college and I got a C and I completed an intermediate in Childcare with a distinction grade and completed Diploma in Childcare, which was equivalent to 3 A levels and I passed.

Now I'm going into my third year of BA Early Childhod Studies and to gain admission for Postgraduate course, i will need GCSE Biology, I'm awaiting for the result as i took it during my 2nd year at uni at a local college. I know that I will pass it as I gave it my all. The question is' I'm hoping to take more Gcse, such as Psychology, Sociology, during my third year at a local college inorder to have at least 5 C's. I feel really dumb with few GCSE's

Should I or Should I not take more GCSE'S?

  1. I've realised that most places only look at A-levels now and don't mind about GCSE's. But it might be a good idea to have the 5 GCSE's for back up incase you do need them in the future. Good luck with whatever you choose to do

  2. Take them for your own interest if you like, but you don't need them for a career, no one over the age of 30 cares.

  3. If all your need for for Postgraduate course is the biology, then why should you take more GCSE's?

I think now you are doing a BA, GCSE's really don't matter. Employers will look at how hard you have obviously worked to get how far you've got, it shows alot of determination.
