Qualifying rounds for the US Open held under USGA at 11 different places across US
Apart from the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), some 106 more professional players from across the world will be selected to participate in the second major of the season, The US Open at Congressional Country Club.
Some of the selections were completed on Monday, June 6, 2011 when the qualifying rounds were held at 11 places across the US. Some 63 entry tickets were given out to the aspiring players who qualified to be part of the field for the coveted title. The 36-hole
qualifying rounds were conducted under the supervision of United States Golf Association (USGA).
Three players out of 56 contenders were selected at the Quail Valley GC at Vero Beach Florida, including Joey Lamielle, Michael Barbosa and Sam Saunders. Brett Patterson, Ryan Nelson and Russell Henley qualified from a field of 47 at the Hawks Ridge GC at
Ball Ground Georgia.
Out of 58 participants at the St, Charles GC at St. Charles Ill, three players including Bennett Blakeman, Brad Benjamin and Christopher Deforest qualified for the event.

At the qualifying round held at Woodmont Country Club at Rockville, Maryland, 112 players contested for the 10 available slots. Kirk Triplett, Jon Mills, Elliot Gealy, Fred Funk, Michael Tobiason Jr., Ty Tryon, Bubba Dickerson, Christo Greyling, David May
and Will Wilcox managed to get through the competition.
83 players contested for the four spots at the Canoe Brook Country Club and the successful contenders included Geoffrey Sisk, Matt Richardson, Alexander Rocha and Cheng-Tsung Pan. Daniel Chopra was also among the contenders but failed to qualify.
120 players contested for the 16 available spots at the Brookside CC/The Lakes CC in Columbus Ohio. Some of the notables who failed to qualify were Brett Wetterich, Stuart Appleby, Arjun Atwal, Ben Curtis, Hunter Haas, while Ryuji Imada and Vijay Singh did
not show up for the rounds.
Rising Korean star Noh Seung-yul and Jesse Hutchins qualified at the Springfield CC. Rest of the qualifying rounds were held at different clubs including Tunica Nationa at Memphis Tennessee, where Sergio Garcia also qualified to be part of the field.
Another 36-hole round was held at Dallas AC4 at Dallas Texas where four players qualified for the event. Eight more players made through the qualifying rounds at two different places at Oakmont CC at Glendale, California and Gold Mountain GC at Bremerton,
Washington.
