Question:

Quality Kitchen Knives?

I'm looking for a set of kitchen knives to replace the cheap ones I currently use. I've never bought a set of knives and I'm not sure what to look for or any brands that are good/bad. I don't have a huge budget but I would still like some knives that will last for a while, any help is appreciated.

  1. I use Henckels, they cost a bit but you will have them for life

    they make great scissors too

  2. I am a former chef and have over 40 in my toolbox, I was a chef in 4 country's for 20+ years and I would recommend a set, Henkels, Victorinox, Wurstof or Global, but in a pinch the US Gerber ones are very nice.

Buy what you need and then add to your collection, a piece at a time, like pots and pans, alot depends on your needs and what your using them for, most sets give you a good selection go with that for the early purchase.

  3. visit your department stores Sears Penney's

but look at some to get an idea of what to expect..

remember the higher quality cutlery stay sharp longer ..

  4. If they are cheap they are c**p.! Don't go penny pinching on Knives..A good set of Knives will last you many many years.Call a well respected restaurant ask to talk to the head chef. Ask his opinion. He would be flattered

  5. Henkles are great but pricey. They will be knives that you hand down. Rachel Ray has a nice little set of knives though that are reasonably priced and have a nice grip and weighted handle. You could buy a set for what you'd pay for one premium knife.

You can get them at JC Penny's or other nice department stores.
