Quality Primer?

Question

I know from experience that quality paint lasts longer and all together better than Wallmart paint, but what about primer? Can you buy lower quality primer? Or should you pay more for primer as well?

Even Walmart sells the 3 types of Kilz primer/sealer. Zinnser is another great brand. These two manufacturers would not risk their reputation by selling inferior products, even at Walmart.

It depends on the wall surface. If you have any bad stains or water damage, you'd want to use something like Kilz which will prevent bleed-through of the stains. If that isn't a problem, but the present wall cover is quite deep or dark, then a high quality primer with good "hiding" qualities will make your new color appear much better than a cheap primer. The Behr paint line sold by Home Depot is very good.  Good luck!! : )
