Quality brand indoor lock with key in canada?

Question

i purchased an indoor handle for my room door that came with keys. however, one day i tried the key and it wouldnt work. i had to push the door in to a point of breaking it a bit to get in.

i was able to fix the lock to close the door, but the part that's supposed to stay stiff when the door is locked won't stay stiff...it's easy to push in my door.

i don't remember the brand but i bought it for about 14$cdn at home depot and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to a brand that's a better quality where the key will actually work so this won't happen again. an indoor door lock with key. something i could possibly get at canadian tire or home depot. and under 20 bucks would be great.

in the locksmith  industry you really do get what you pay for ..it amuses me how ofter i come across some one who wants to protect what is  very valueable  to them with a product that costs about the same as a pack of smokes.. big box store bring in cheap locks from china and display them were you nearly trip on them.. under  20.dollars lock  will only bring the same result . the cheapest lock  which  you very well may have guarding your  outside door is a weiser.  an entrance lock will start around $35.00 depending on the finish and stile higher end locks made by same company would be a baldwin ,for around $90.00 on the commercial side schlage low end will star about $60.00 and up..... what is your peace of mind worth
