Question:

Quandry...what are my options?

I have accepted and been employed for the past 2 months. This is a 6 figure position. I have since received opportunities to interview with other companies. Normally I would say no, however my new company has changed some things in my job.

Specifically, I am in sales...my region has a quota/plan that calls for a specific amount. I was provided with two very key companies within the region, that would account for nearly 80% of the revenue. However one company no longer trusts our company and the business is virtually at -0-, while the other, I have been told is working through a dealer that belongs to another region and thus will be managed by that region. Effectively I have a region with no business and a plan that has not been adjusted to reflect the change made at corporate.

Basically, reality today, is not what was originally offered nor is it what I signed up for.

What options do I have...how do I explain the issues in potential interviews with other companies?

  1. Since the job is so new (only 2 months) I wouldn't put it on my resume and, therefore, these other companies won't know to ask you anything about your current job and you won't have to explain anything.  If asked, "So, what have you been doing the past two months (from what is on resume until now)?"  "I've been keeping myself busy with a little sales gig but I'm definatly interested in your company because...."  Keep the conversation focused on your new job/company, not the one you are with now.

    Best wishes.
