Quantum Racing moves up in standings as XXII Sardegna wins Soto 40: 2011 Sardinia Region Trophy
America’s Quantum Racing has got a winning momentum in 2011 Sardinia Region Trophy, the third regatta of 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit, and has moved on to second place after five races in TP52 yacht series.
Meanwhile, the local favourites, XXII Sardegna clinched the third race of Soto 40 series but unfortunately they couldn’t improve in the standings.
Quantum Racing were wobbled by the Cagliari Mistral on the opening day if 2011 Region of Sardinia Trophy at the Gulf of Cagliari in Sardinia. The wind conditions were severe as they blew up to 25
knots North West of the racing area which shattered many sailors. However, Quantum Racing fought back on the second and third day to finish at number two with 18 points.
The Italians, XXII Sardegna, enjoyed a superb sail under light conditions and won the third race of Soto 40 series but unfortunately, they are still at number three behind two Spanish sailing teams,
Iberdrola Team and Noticia IV.
Speaking to the local media, XXII Sardegna tactician Lorenzo Gemini said, “It was a perfect day, winning is a dream! Our goal was to give it to the other teams, to this champions, and we did it! It
was the perfect race I have to say thank you to the yacht club, to the owner and to all the guys.”
