Quantum Racing skipper Ed Baird looks forward to Barcelona Trophy victory: 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit
America’s TP52 team, Quantum Racing, is currently leading the overall TP52 series standings of 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit Regattas. Despite their low performance in the previous three legs of the circuit, they have managed to maintain their top position so
far. Quantum Racing skipper, Ed Baird, is now heading to Barcelona to take part in the Barcelona Trophy and hopes to clinch the circuit title.
The American team won the first leg of Audi MedCup Circuit, Cascais Trophy, and dominated the TP52 class. They have been on top of the score board even after some unconvincing performances in the latter three regattas. They finished third in the recently
ended Murcia Trophy in Cartagena, Spain, with 38.5 points while the event was won by Spain’s Bribon.
Quantum Racing skipper, Ed Baird, is ready for the last leg of season, Barcelona Trophy, and is looking forward to put a strong score on the board to win the overall circuit trophy. The former America’s Cup winner hopes his team will do their best to achieve
the target.
While speaking to local media, Baird said, “We are really looking forwards to Barcelona. We have a job to do there and are confident we can do it. When we look back to Cartagena our feeling is very much not to panic, if there is nothing particularly broken
then we don’t have to worry about trying to fix things, but just to focus on trying to the do the things that we know we do well better.”
He added, “We have an exceptional team who are used to closing out major titles, like the America’s Cup and World Championships and so I don’t think pressure or confidence will come into it.”
