Quarter-finals preview of Bank of Beijing China Open 2011 - (Part 1)
The quarter-final stage of the Bank of Beijing China Open 2011 will begin on Friday, 1st April. Eight top players will be competing for a spot in the last four of the tournament. Many big names like defending champion Mark Williams, Ronnie O’Sullivan,
Stephen Hendry and current World Snooker champion Neil Robertson have failed to make it to the quarter-final stage.
The eight players who have progressed to the quarter-finals include John Higgins, Shaun Murphy, Judd Trump, Peter Ebdon, Stephen Lee, Ding Junhui, Ali Carter and Mark Selby.
The quarter-final fixtures are as follows.

John Higgins vs Shaun Murphy
World number one John Higgins holds a match winning percentage of 92.2 and his frame winning rate is 63.2 percent. He has been in great form since the German Masters 2011. He is the current Welsh Open champion.
World number six Shaun Murphy possesses a match winning rate of 73.3 percent and a frame winning rate of 59.9 percent. He is the winner of the Players Tour Championship (PTC) 2010-11 Grand Finals.
Both Higgins and Murphy have gone head-to-head five times before. They faced each other for the first time in the final of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2009, where Higgins defeated Murphy 18-9. Their second meeting took place in the final of
the Euro PTC 2010-11 Event 5. Higgins beat Murphy there too by 4-2. In their third clash at the Snooker Championship League 2011 Group 1, Murphy took the match 3-1.
Higgins then beat Murphy 3-2 in a Group 2 match of the Snooker Championship League, followed by Murphy’s whitewash 3-0 victory in a round-robin match of Group 3. The odds here are sixty-forty as Higgins has recorded three wins in five matches.
Judd Trump vs Peter Ebdon
Trump is ranked number 24 in the world snooker rankings 2010-11, revised after the Welsh Open 2011. His match winning ratio is 69.6 percent while his frame winning rate is 59.4 percent. He is the champion of the Paul Hunter Classic.
Former world champion Peter Ebdon is ranked 12th in the world and holds a match winning percentage of 66. On the other hand he has clinched 168 frames out of 293, which makes his frame winning rate 57.3 percent. He has also clinched China Open title in 2009.
Ebdon has defeated Trump two times before. They met for the first time in the first round of UK Championship 2009 where Ebdon beat Trump by 9-4, and for the second time in the opening round of the China Open 2010 where he was victorious by 5-4. Trump defeated
Ebdon only once; in the second round of the Euro PTC Event 1 by 4-2.
