Quarterback Brock Osweiler wants to learn every inch of game from Peyton Manning – NFL News
Denver Broncos’ backup quarterback Brock Osweiler is one of the fortunate rookies who have the opportunity of playing under an elite quarterback like Peyton Manning.
Osweiler looks to study every bits and pieces of Manning’s game. The Associated Press quoted him as saying:
"Well, I'm in a great situation, no doubt about it. I think the biggest thing for me is I'm not wasting a day. Watching everything Peyton does, taking as many notes as I possibly can."
Manning has the reputation of being the leader for his rookie teammates, teaching them in every step of their journey towards becoming a better player.
Osweiler has the perfect chance to learn under the guidance of the four-time Most Valuable Player Manning.
Manning’s efficiency on the field has really impressed Osweiler. Despite starting his 15th season in the league, Manning, 36, do workout in the training session like a young gun. Osweiler said:
"The first thing I really noticed with Peyton is he's the hardest-working person regardless of any profession I've ever been around. And the thing about Peyton is he doesn't waste a single minute in a day. He utilizes all of his time from the moment he walks
into the building until the time that he leaves."
Osweiler is drafted by Broncos in the second round (57th overall pick) in this year’s draft. He has signed a four-year, $3.1 million contract.
Manning is coming back after spending 18 months out of the field because of a career-threatening neck injury.
He was released by Indianapolis Colts in March this year. Later, he joined Denver Broncos with a whipping five-year, $98 million contract.
The interesting thing to note is that if Manning remains fit and play throughout his five-year deal, Osweiler will have to spend his entire rookie contract without becoming a starter, if he stays in Denver.
Osweiler faces a tough competition for the number two quarterback spot in the Broncos’ camp. Adam Weber and Caleb Hanie are both in contention to be the primary backup to Manning.
Osweiler is coming with a reputation of having a very quick throwing arm. He usually asks many questions from Manning and the veteran always has the answer.
