Quarterback David LeGree hopes to be better after Kansas City Chiefs’ minicamp – NFL News
Rookie free agent, quarterback, David LeGree, who was one of the tryouts at Kansas City Chiefs’ three-day minicamp that concluded on Sunday, May 13, 2012, has said that he is hopeful of improving his game and fitness in the days to come.
LeGree’s remarks came after he struggled with sending throws accurately with full speed on the final day of the minicamp.
He had to continue throwing though as he was the only quarterback in the camp.
That, however, does not justify his flaws as the competitive nature of the National Football League (NFL) demands high level of fitness from all the players.
Since LeGree is still a free agent, it was more important for him to impress Chiefs so as to get a contract with them.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, LeGree admitted facing difficulties in throwing the ball on the third day and hoped that he would overcome his flaws in future.
He said:
“Being the only quarterback out here, you don’t get a chance to throw and then come out. You’re throwing every throw. That’s my fault. I have to be better than that. There’s no excuse, especially not in this league, so I have to do better on that.”
On the other hand, Chiefs’ head coach, Romeo Crennel, was partially impressed with the quarterback.
Crennel was of the view that the player did well to keep other players moving, but also maintained that there was a room for improvement.
He also said that the player was also aware of his mistakes and added that the management would evaluate his performance before deciding if he should be given a contract.
The head coach said:
“He did show a very strong arm. I thought to his credit, being the only quarterback in camp and having to learn all the offence and expecting him to learn where everybody was supposed to line up and what they’re supposed to do, I thought he did a good job
with it.”
Meanwhile, the rookies will be able to join the veterans from Monday during the team’s offseason workout.
During the three-day camp, the seniors were not allowed to train with the new players, but both can train together now.
