Quarterback Eli Manning thinks New York Giants are not executing well – NFL News
After their Week 9 defeat against Pittsburgh Steelers, the defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants are surrounded by a number of questions relating to their poor performance.
The same could have happened a week earlier when Giants played against Dallas Cowboys, but they somehow managed to edge past the opponents then.
Although Giants head coach Tom Coughlin had highlighted plenty of flaws in the team’s performance against the Cowboys, Giants could not learn from their mistakes and eventually paid the price in Week 9 game.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning, whose performance was also below par against Steelers, is of the view that the team is not executing well and that is why scoring opportunities are not coming frequently.
Against Cowboys in Week 8, Giants scored 23 points, but allowed opponents to later score 24 points. The offence rescued the team in the final quarter by scoring a couple of field goals to seal the victory. However, the interesting thing to note is that Manning
could not score even one touchdown and ended the game with an interception to his name.
The same happened against Steelers as well. Manning once again failed to get a touchdown and got an interception to his name. He did not receive much criticism after the game against Cowboys, apparently because the Giants won, but he is expected to come
in the line of fire now.
According to the details present on Giants’ website, Manning is of the view that everybody has to work together to generate scoring drives. He said:
“We’re just not executing as well.  Third downs – that’s a big part; just not getting firsts.  A little off here; just not executing; guys not doing everything perfectly; me missing some throws – so it’s just a combination of everything.  I don’t think there’s
one thing that saying, “we’re just not doing this,” and that’ll solve all our problems.  Everybody working together; everybody playing good football on every situation, and that will lead to points.”
When asked if he was worried about the number of incomplete passes he has thrown of late, Manning said:
“I feel like I’m throwing the ball accurately when I have opportunities to, it’s just trying to find guys open and trying to just get in good situations.”
