Quarterback thin Houston Texans play NFC South leaders Atlanta Falcons this Sunday – NFL Preview
Another game and another quarterback for the Houston Texans; the quarterback-thin Texans (8-3) are hosting Atlanta Falcons (7-4) this Sunday having elevated Taylor Jonathan (T.J.) Yates to start for them in their next game as a
replacement to their two quarterback stars Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart.
Both the players, Schaub and Leinart, suffered injuries one by one and had been ruled out of current season of the American football's professional league, National Football League. The Texans have been desperate to find a right
replacement to the since.
Despite signing veteran Jake Delhomme to their side, Texans' coach Gary Kubiak has put faith in T.J. Yates to start their next game. The player had replaced Matt Leinart who after a half hour play in his first comeback since 2009
was ruled out because of a collarbone injury.
Kubiak has expressed full confidence into his side despite these problems hoping to record their sixth consecutive win this weekend.
"I'm very proud of this team," Coach Gary Kubiak said. "It's hard to win in this league, and when you face some of the adversity we've faced and will be facing again, and to continue to find a way to win, that's a sign of a very
solid football team."
The Texans 8-3 are two games ahead of the Tennessee Titans in the American Football Conference (AFC) north division. Their home win record with four wins and one loss is better than road games. They have lost two games on road.
Their wins however are equal to home wins with four victories.
Atlanta Falcons 7-4 in the National Football Conference (NFC) south division is just one game ahead of the Saints. They are tied with the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions.
"We've always said that we always want to position ourselves to be a relevant team in November and December, and the teams that have sustainability are the ones that are relevant in November and December," Falcons coach Mike Smith
said.
They have recently surged stronger in the NFC north. They however will be without their starting cornerback Brent Grimes. He suffered a knee injury and has not played last two games.
The Texans and Houston have met twice with even records. The Falcons have won 26-16 their most recent game against the Texans.
