Quarterfinalists eyeing the 2012 U.S. Girls’ Junior Trophy
The quarterfinals of the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship have been announced and each of the eight contestants is confident of their win.
The list of quarterfinalists includes the top players who emerged after the gruelling initial rounds. These eight players played really great golf to reach at this point and experts are hopeful for another set of exciting matches as the quarter finals give
way to the semi and then final matches.
The first name is the American player Casie Cathrea. She is 16 years old and came up after beating Anne Freman with a score of 6 and 4 in her favour. Cathrea is a great scholar as well and will attend Oklahoma State University on a golf scholarship.
Kelli Murphy is another 16-year-old from the US. She had an interesting game against Shawn Rennegarbe and won it with a narrow margin of 2 and 1. She has been very impressive so far and experts hope that she will go to the semi-finals as well.
Another US player to reach quarterfinals is Yueer “Cindy” Feng. When it comes to the Girls’ Junior, she has great experience. She has played in the event three times before.
She won her place in the quarter finals by defeating Summar Roachell with a score of 6 and 4 in her favour.
Lauren Diaz-Yi is another important player on the list. She had a tough time playing against her opponents. She barely managed a win over Alexandra Kaui. The final score in their game was 3 and 2 in Diaz-Yi’s favour.
Alison Lee, the rising star out of America is also on the quarter final list with plans of making it to the finals. She demonstrated good form so far and many predict that fans will see her in the finals.
Minjee Lee, the Australian player, is also playing in the quarterfinals. She is in great shape and plans to play the final of the event.
Last but not least, the two players who have captured the spotlight of the event. Lydia Ko and Ariya Jutanugarn have been in the news since the start of the event. Many predict a final between these two and chances look good for that eventuality.
