Quebec has more than 10,000 km of land, river, and marine borders that it shares with Ontario, Canada (waters south of the 60th parallel), Nunavut, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and a number of American states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York

    Due to both the geology of the province and its different climates, a number of broad vegetation zones in Quebec have been classified. The zones, listed in order from the most northern to the most southern, are:Tundra, Taiga, Boreal (coniferous) forest, Mixed forest, and the Deciduous forest.

    St. Lawrence River, Great Lakes, Saguenay River, Lac-Saint-Jean

    Canadian Shield; the St. Lawrence Lowland, or Valley; and the Appalachians.

    W: Ontario prov., Hudson Bay (till C.Wolstenholme 62 1/2d N)

From the frozen and icy shores of Hudson strait & Bay start 'Tundras', yielding to 'Taigas' and Conifers still south that includes Notre dame mts. and Gaspe Peninsula on the southern (right) bank of St.Lawrence. Except Hudson & Ungava Bay shores rest of the area including the banks of the river are elevated.

    3. Coasts on James Bay, Hudson Bay, Hudson strait & Ungava Bay to west & north. St.Lawrence in the south and many medium & small lakes like Mistasini-Albanel (biggest), St.John, Evans, Bienville, Clearwater, Minto, Payne.

    4. The state has abundant fresh water and is favourable for Hydroelectric power generation. River St.Lawrence is the most important physiscal feature.
