  1. I like them both. Henry VIII and his wives have always interested me.

  2. Hello,

From the history I have read, the majority of people at that time liked Catherine of Aragon. She was extremely popular with the general population of England.

Anne Boleyn was extremely unpopular with the Catholics in England who were the vast majority at that time but she was hailed and admired by the Protestant sects.

    Cheers,

    Michael Kelly

  3. Personally I prefer Anne Boleyn over Katharine of Aragon.

Anne was English, raised in the Protestant faith, and mother of Elizabeth I, one of the greatest monarchs England saw. Anne's relationship with Henry, although tempestuous and fateful, was one based on passion and mutual attraction.

Katharine was Spanish, a devout Catholic, and mother of Mary I, who instigated the Marian Persecutions of pro-Protestant believers. Katharine was Henry's sister-in-law before she became his wife. She was a convenience, for he had to marry and produce an heir. I believe it was a loveless marriage.

  4. I can't answer for people in general, but I like them both. Catherine for her loyalty (despite everything Henry did to her----including keeping her own daughter away from her, she still died with a blessing for on her lips) and her maternal actions and personality. I also feel very, very, very sorry for her. She loved the king more than any of his other wives could even try to, and she could not help that she could not give the king a live, healthy son. That was out of her hands. She did everything she could, including spending hours at her prayers. And she still died as if she committed a horrible act.

And I like Anne because she was very animated. She could turn the most boring conversations into a witty debate, or take the most controversial, mind bending problems and make a joke out of it. She was also a fighter and well educated, especially for being awoman. She was tri-lingual by the time she was six! She was also very motherly as well....but remembering that (at the time) a woman's place is at her husband's side, not in the nursery. But, unlike most mothers of the time, she wanted to breastfeed the princess Elizabeth herself, which shows how motherly she was.

  5. Do you mean today or then.  People loved Katherine of Aragon, and were angry when Henry had her exiled to marry Anne Boleyn.  The same way many of us feel about Diana and Camilla.  But I truly don't believe that Henry actually loved any one but himself.

  6. Queen Katherine of England (Aragon)

  7. I like them both.  Katherine for her class and grace and Anne for her excitement
