I need to know for my new room how much shorter a double bed is compared to a queen. I've heard 7 inches, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks

  1. Double or full sized beds are one and the same thing and are 54" wide and 75" long, which gives only 27" of space per person, which is 12" less than a twin bed and thus are considered too narrow for daily purposes. However, they still require small space and thus may be used in smaller rooms or for guest rooms.

Double and full sized beds may be too short for some adults.

Queen beds are 60" wide and 80" long and thus, allow each person 30" of space, which is still much less than the one offered by the twin bed. However, couples often prefer to use it because it occupies less floor area and fit snugly into small master bedrooms of new couples or guest rooms.

  2. Hi, A double also known as a full size bed is 54"widex75"long. A double is really best for a single sleeper as people are surprised to find out that when two people share a double they have the personal sleeping space equivlalent to a crib mattress. A double is also best for someone under 5'5".

The measurements of a Queen size is 60"x80". A queen size will give you an extra 6 inches in width and 5 inches in length than a double.Doubles are great for teen or kids rooms.

    Hope this helps.
