Queen Elizabeth...?

I'm watching the movie -Elizabeth- and it is (big surprise) about the life of Queen Elizabeth in her point of view. Does anyone know any books on Queen Elizabeth that are less like a biography and more like a story set in those times?

  1. I am currently reading a book called "The Virgin Queen" by Christopher Hibbert. It is a biography, but it is very detailed and more like a story set in 3rd person. Also, there is a book about Queen Elizabeth and Robert Dudley called "The Virgin's Lover" that was very interesting to read. It is not a biography, though. I suggest to you one of those two books, or check your local library for others... that's where I find all of the good books!

  2. One of my favorites is I, Elizabeth: A Novel by Rosiland Miles. It concentrates on Elizabeth's road to the throne, her affair with Robert Dudley, and her relationships with her advisors and other worldly leaders. It has a lot of historical fact and a few liberties but overall, a great read!

  3. I strongly recommend a series of well-written books by Phillipa Gregory.

These may provide a broader picture than you are looking for, but the final book "the Virgin's Lover" is about Elizabeth and Robert Dudley.

The books that precede this are fabulous and are very good historical fiction depicting the events that led up to Elizabeth taking the throne.   Check out the website:  www.philippagregory.com

A movie based on Phillipa Gregory's book "The Other Boleyn Girl" will be released soon
