Question:

Queen Mary 2 transatlantic trip with small children?

We are planning a transatlantic trip with our family on the Queen Mary 2. We have a five year old daughter and a 1 year old son. Have you done it? Was it fun? Was it appropriate for small children? Children's activities? Safe?

I would love to hear from employees or passengers if possible, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Cunard is one of my favorite lines. They are hard to be in quality. They do cater more to adults, but they actually have pretty good childrens activities onboard.

The ship is really great and I highly recommend it. But, you may find that it is more enjoyable for just the adults. There is some to do for them, but not as much as some of the lines that are better for families, i.e. Disney.

I've included a link to a great, detailed review for your ship, you can also read more passenger reviews there and also talk on the message board about the ship.

I've never traveled with kids on this ship, so I don't want to go into much detail, but the people I know that have said the kids had a great time. However, these children were used to going on business trips with their parents and also sitting through boring meetings, etc. They also usually take someone along with them to take care of the kids of they go on QM2. If you kids like to have tons of activities, you may want to look into another line.

Really, I think it just depends on your family. I suggest looking over the link to see what you find and if you feel it would work. I love the ship and the cruise, but you may find your kids like Disney or Royal Caribbean a lot better.
