Queen Mary Stakes and Ceiling Kitty’s hat-trick
Despite the fact that Ceiling Kitty had won two big races in the month of May, the bettors were not ready to pick her as a favourite for the high-voltage Royal Ascot 2012 race of Queen Mary Stakes. Instead, they gave the 5-1 favourite tag to Mironica.
When the Group 2 race over 5 furlongs began at 5:00 (GMT) on June 20, Ceiling Kitty was looking extra-ordinary sharp and confident. In the beginning stage, none of the spectators and the punters could even think of the Tom Dascombe trained bay filly’s success.
After taking a few steps, Ceiling Kitty, who was running under Richard Kingscote, suddenly raised her pace and started surpassing his 26 rivals one by one.
The challenge was tough, but the two-year-old fantastic filly demonstrated great courage and high spirit to cope with it. Hoyam gave her a tough time. At one stage, some people were thinking that the Michael Bell trained by filly would win.
Ceiling Kitty beautifully managed to outplay Hoyam and crossed the boundary strap by a length’s margin. It was a tremendous victory, earned by an underrated runner.
Thus, the daughter of Red Clubs out of Baldovina managed to complete her hat-trick. Earlier, she had won Bet On Your Mobile At Blue Square E B F Maiden Stakes at Kempton and Langleys Solicitors LLP E B F Marygate Fillies' Stakes (Listed) at York.
Interesting to note is the fact that she accomplished all of the three victories without a favourite tag, proving to the horseracing world that she had a lot of firepower in her legs.
After a gap of almost two months, Ceiling Kitty ran two races in September but could not be able to make impact. Thus, Dascombe took her to school to fix all of her fault lines.
In these days, the A. Black bred filly is going to extensive drills. She is not scheduled for any race of the near future. It is hoped that she will make a surprising comeback after a few months. But this time, the punters will think smartly before underestimating
her. Good luck to the star filly whose neck is adorned with the glittering title of Queen Mary Stakes.
