Queen Palms have bark damage several feet above grade with harder wood like core exposed in 6x18" wounds

Question

damage area about 6x18" vertically with depth up to seeming wood like core. Not man made but more like splitting/peeling in these two est 15 year old Queen Palms otherwise healthy.
