Queen Victoria's underwear auctioned off. Should this have happened?

I have just heard on the radio news that some of Queen Victoria's underwear has been sold at an auction.

The sum obtained was only about 15, 000 pounds.

They even gave the poor woman's undie measurements.

Bloomers = 50 inches, waist measurement.

Camisole = 88 inches, bust measurement.

Petticoat = no size given.

I think this is most unseemly & Royal undies should be in the museum or left in a drawer somewhere.

What do you think?

I think her drawers should have stayed firmly in a drawer. It is very unseemingly.

I am surprised that the Royal Family have allowed them to be sold. They are surely items of the Crown Estate?

p.s. how do they know they were hers.

i don't think it was actually the royal family that sold it, so them being broke doesnt have much to do with anything...

from what i understand, it was a descendant of one of the maids of Queen Victoria

i suppose it's wrong, as I'm sure they weren't a gift to her....

there broke. there will be a lot more sold.

but i dont see how the royal family can actually be broke, as we give them money.

but £15,000 should see them through the next 2 days. lol

She couldn't have had an 88 inch busy - I know she got big - but that is Lola proportions.....!!!!

88 inches bust? How did she avoid falling onwards when she walked? Two normal women and a little girl fit in there!

It's in all the papers today, just search for 'Queen Victoria's waist' and you'll find it.  I think it would be even worse in a way if they were in a museum because everyone could then go and stare at them.  The papers are also saying a 66 inch bust btw.
